Makeup For England Furniture Commercial

August 16th, 2010

This past Wednesday I shot a new spot for England Furniture’s  new collection. It seems that the 70’s are back, as the color pallette was avacado, beige and brown. While shooting  furniture can be rather tedious, I was fortunate enough to have three delightful models to keep me company. Two I have worked with many times and always enjoy catching up with (you can probably find them by going through the archives of this blog), and the third was a lovely lady I enjoyed getting to know and hope to work with again soon.  Here are the photos…

Two New Commercial Shoots This Week

August 7th, 2010

I was out of town from this past Friday until Tuesday, flying back home just in time to shoot with The M Network early Tuesday evening. It was a PSA  (public service announcement) for The Children’s Trust, which is a local organization that provides a dedicated source of revenue to improve the lives of the children and families in Miami-Dade County. I had two really lovely families to make up, and this spot was to promote their website.

And since I enjoy working with Sara and Thom so much, on Thursday I worked with The M Network again on a political campaign ad.  I always try to learn something new, or at least interesting, when working on set, and on today’s job  I accomplished both.  Did you know that political advertisements are not subject to the truth in advertising laws?  It turns out that candidates  statements and advertisements are considered “political speech,” which falls under the protection of the First Amendment.  I verified this fact earlier today when I came across a September 23, 2008 Time.com article that you can read  here.

Sadly I left my camera in my still not unpacked suitcase, so I don’t have any photos to post for either job.  I promise to makeup (oops, make up) for it next week on the two jobs I am booked for on Wednesday and Friday. Until then I ‘ve  got some unpacking and laundry to get to. Enjoy your weekend!

Miami Dade College Photo Shoot Day Three

July 29th, 2010

As I mentioned in an earlier post, MDC decided to add  a third day to the shoot, so I happily went back to Carlo Llano’s studio yesterday to work with six more students. Another great day at work and the nicest people to chat with!

Jessica Becomes A Blushing Bride

July 27th, 2010

On Saturday I had the pleasure of doing the makeup for an adorable blushing bride named Jessica.  Her wedding was at a Ft. Lauderdale landmark, The Bahia Mar Hotel. Another destination wedding, I finally got to meet the bride and her mother the week before the wedding and knew immediately that they were going to be an easy going, happy family to work with. And was I right! I did the makeup for the bride, her lovely mother Sheryl, and her two matrons-of-honor

The photographer was Jeff Kolodny and the videographer was Jason Chandler of JC Video Production.

Jessica is not a big makeup person, but wanted her eyes to be the focus of her bridal makeup look. I started by playing up her newly enhanced tan, and added a few extra hours of sleep to her appearance with Bridal Veil Concealer in shade#3 by The Blushing Bride Cosmetics. On her eyes I used The Blushing Bride Cosmetics eyeshadows in “Ivory Lace”, Wedding Bells” and “Tuxedo” mixed with “Black Tie” for a soft but defined look. A few individual false lashes  finished off a look that made Jessica’s eyes sparkle.

To keep the attention on her eyes, her cheeks were kept very natural,  dusted with The BBC’s blush in “Always A Bridesmaid” topped with a bit of glow from Floral Shimmer Bouquet in “Honeymoon Glow.”  To complete this blushing bride’s look,  “Touch”  lipliner and “Bliss” lipgloss by The BBC to make her smile shine.
