Look Good Feel Better November 2010

November 8th, 2010

It’s the second Monday of the month, and as always that means another volunteering session for my favorite organization, Look Good Feel Better. Today’s group was small, just three women. One was challenged with cancer of the liver and another with ovarian cancer. The third woman was actually a student intern in a hospice program through Barry University, and she was sitting in to experience and learn about our program first hand.

The session started out with lots of tears, but as we worked our way into the makeup lesson the puffy eyes magically disappeared, the appearance of an extra twelve hours of sleep was created, and a healthy natural glow appeared on their faces.

Coincidentally, one of the patients, a widow, was  going to see an old boyfriend tonight for the first time. The feeling of confidence that she exuded as she walked out of the session was palpable. I wish her and the boyfriend an amazing evening!
