Sunny’s Preview Makeup Session

December 30th, 2010

While at work on the BraBox shoot I received the following email on my Blackberry…

Hi Lisa,
My name is Sunny. I am getting married on January 9 in Miami and after getting numerous makeup trials done I still am not happy with the results. Time is getting closer and I am stressed. Can you or someone you can recommend do a trial for me?
Thanks,
Sunny

Honestly, I was not sure if I wanted to respond.  Stressed out brides are a special breed, and usually much more difficult to please. Plus, the words “numerous makeup trials” sent my bridezilla alarm ringing. Well, I am always up for a challenge, so I called and we set up an appointment for a preview makeup session on Saturday the 18th.  I was delighted to discover that this January bride’s name perfectly describes her personality. Sunny was a sweetheart to work with.  I still find it hard to believe that her previous trials turned out so poorly, as she was clear on the makeup vision she wished to achieve. She even brought along the book “Makeup Makeovers – Weddings” by Robert Jones as a means of showing me her likes and dislikes.

We both agreed that a Sunday brunch beach wedding  called for a glowing, romantic  look , leaning towards the natural side.  I created Sunny’s look using The Blushing Bride Cosmetics. I began with Velvet Veil under makeup primer, and followed with Bridal Veil Foundation in Golden 3 as her base and Golden 1 as her concealer. This foundation is oil-free and has a matte finish, perfect for a natural, long lasting  look. After pressing lots of Bridal Veil Loose Powder in medium into her oily spots, I blushed her cheeks with “Cut The Cake” and then added a bit of shimmer to them with Floral Shimmer Bouquet in “Golden Glow”.  To bring out her beautiful green eyes I shadowed and contoured with “Grandma’s Pearls” under her eyebrows, “Trousseau” on her eyelids, and “Tuxedo” in her crease and softly under her lower lashes as liner. To keep the lips looking soft and kissable,  I chose “I Do”  lipstick topped with “Veil” lipgloss.

I am happy to say that Sunny left the preview relaxed and smiling, and she booked me for both her rehearsal dinner and her January 9th, 2011 wedding. I am so happy it worked out, and I am looking forward to being a part of this romantic Sunday brunch wedding at The Palms Hotel and Spa on Miami Beach.

Here are a before shot that I took and a beautiful after shot that Sunny was kind enough to send me from her evening out.
